Who Says Dress Shopping Can’t be A Party

Hey Guys!!! So the craziest thing happened last weekend. PINTEREST FAILED ME!! Yes, I know what you are thinking, how is that possible? Well it is. I was in search for something cute to do for my family and bridesmaids to kick off dress shopping. They had a ton of ideas on what to bring with you and but there was nothing on how to make it super special and over the top. So I had to come up with my own ideas.

I started out thinking that I wanted to have a mini party. Like literally that was my thought. I said to myself, “something cute and super small”. But I was lost. I couldn’t figure out how to do that. How can I have a party at 8 am for my family. And like I always do on Pinterest I searched “mini party”. Low and behold I found the cutest idea. Of course it had nothing at all to do with wedding dress shopping. So I tweaked it. Here are all the fun ideas I came up with for my bridesmaids. And how I turned a day that was set to be all about me, into a day that celebrated them as well!

(Please bear with me here. I didn’t get pictures of everything but I will include what I have. Feel free to leave a comment if you want to know where I purchased anything that you see. I am willing to share or even help you plan…. you know I am an event planner too!)

The theme of the mini party was breakfast fiesta! Everything was colorful! Polka-dots seemed to be a running theme in the party stores in my area so I went with those. I set the table with all the items that you need for a great party. Starting with mini party hats, mini piñatas, candy, mini party favors, and mini pomp om balls.

For food I thought about exactly what everyone needs in the morning, a good breakfast. I set up ice coffee, orange juice, mini pancakes, mini fruit cups, mini donuts, and mini French toast sticks. The menu was small enough that we could eat and also so we could pack little treat bags with snacks for our big day.

For the place settings I had a menu for everyone. I also included a hashtag card and a card that said ‘who said dress shopping shouldn’t be a party’. I made all the menus and other paper goods. (I am willing to do these for your next event if you want!) I didn’t just put these on the plates. I used the cards as décor as well. They lined the food table.

No party is complete without real party favors and photo props!! For party favors all my guest was given a bag with their names on them, tumbler cups, coffee mugs, lunch boxes for the day filled with snacks, and folders that had all the wedding details they needed. I also gave everyone a shirt to wear for the day while we were shopping. Because we were going dress shopping, I wanted a little Say Yes To The Dress, feel. So I made signs for the crew that said phrases like “Yes”, “hmmm”, “Next”, “The One”.

This really turned out to be a lot of fun! I think they really enjoyed it. The one thing I didn’t want to do was make this entire wedding experience just about me. A lot of times brides forget how much their wedding party has to put out to share in your day. Why not shower them with the same love they are showing you. I didn’t want to take the cheap way out for my girls. These are also my sisters and mothers. They will be not only just standing by me on this one special day, but for the rest of my life. I wanted to show them how much they mean to me!!

Again, if you want me to design anything for your next event let me know!! I am one email away and I would love to help. Shoot me an email at mom.e.planner@gmail.com

Feel free to comment if you have any questions on where I ordered any of these items!

  1. This is such a cute and fun idea! I love that everything was mini to go along with the mini party theme (who knew they made mini piñatas!) I also love that you made personalized bags and shirts for your mom and mother in law as well.
